“Winning the US Open was a crazy feeling – one that I had never felt before and I don’t think I will ever feel again.” American star Coco Gauff said back in 2023 months after her sensational triumph at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The then 19-year-old phenom stunned Aryna Sabalenka (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the summit clash to clinch her maiden slam at the US Open. Surely, the first big win is like no other. For Gauff, it was the beginning of her outstanding domination on the tennis court. And now, as she prepares to shine on the Parisian clay court at the Roland Garros, her drive for the racket sport has surfaced once again, thanks to a special gesture by Rolex!
In 2023, she marked her U.S. Open victory by replacing her sweatband with a Rolex Oyster Perpetual—a stunning precision piece with a burgundy dial that hadn’t seen the light of day in ten years. But it did match her championship day outfit. “I had dreamt of winning a Grand Slam and the moment was even better than I could have ever imagined,” she said later in a statement released by the Rolex Newsroom. And with the Australian Open on the horizon at the time, she also made one thing clear: “For sure, my goal next year (2024) is to win another, and to represent Rolex and women’s tennis at the same time is a huge honour.”
That goal of winning another Grand Slam hasn’t materialized yet, but Gauff is not known for quitting. Her passion and ambition for the sport are something that keeps her going to chase more laurels at the biggest stage. And that’s exactly what Rolex demonstrated in a recent clip ahead of the second major of the season.

On its official IG account, the $10.7 billion brand (per a 2025 report by Statista) posted an intriguing video on Tuesday. It starts with a young Gauff who gets asked a simple question: “Tell me about your ambitions in tennis?” What follows is an inspiring montage that almost acts as her mouthpiece.

In the post, Rolex wrote, “An irrepressible drive. From her beginnings in Delray Beach, Florida, to winning a first Grand Slam® title at age 19, @cocogauff has brought grit, poise and passion to her every move, on and off the court.” One can witness the final moments from her US Open run when she actually did it in front of her home crowd.
Furthermore, the company underlined Gauff’s deep passion and love for tennis. And that she strives to pursue only one thing—the crown. “We are honoured to accompany this tennis phenomenon on her inspiring journey. REACH FOR THE CROWN.” Speaking of the collaboration between Gauff and Rolex, it’s been a journey in itself. It began six years ago, in 2019, when the WTA star became the Rolex Testimonee at 15.
But obviously, the partnership became all the more special after her US Open triumph. And right now, it just keeps on extending timelessly as Gauff gears up to ‘reach for the crown’ at a different stage this time. Thanks to her resurgence in the last one month, the American looks to be a potential winner already going into the Roland Garros!

Coco Gauff looks to win maiden French Open title
The ongoing season was turning out to be extremely underwhelming for Coco Gauff till last month. After reaching the QF of the Australian Open, she went on to perform poorly in successive events. The 2024 WTA Finals winner failed to even clear the first round across many tournaments. Just when it seemed the losing streak would continue further, she broke it!
It appears Gauff has found her lost momentum again, thanks to the clay surface. In April, she managed to reach the QF of the Stuttgart Open and then made it to the summit clash in Madrid. Unfortunately, she couldn’t win the trophy against World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka. But the 21-year-old carried the consistency forward.
At the Italian Open in Rome, earlier this month, Gauff entered her second straight final of this season. Once again, she failed to lift the winner’s trophy as local favorite Jasmine Paolini bested her in straight sets.

However, the best thing Gauff can take away from her runs in Madrid and Rome is that she’s found her form! Which means she will be among the top title contenders at the French Open, and why not? In the past, she’s been on the brink of lifting the trophy in Paris. Back in 2022, she entered her maiden slam final at the Roland Garros. However, Poland’s Iga Swiatek outperformed her eventually.
This time, Coco Gauff will look to finally accomplish her French Open dream. Do you think she can make it happen this season? Let us know in the comments below.
