After a disappointing run at Wimbledon, the American sensation Coco Gauff decided that it was best to part ways with her coach. The 19-year-old did not play her best tennis as Sofia Kenin eliminated her in the very first round. Coco has since then been trying to recruit the best coaching staff to help her get back on track.

Currently playing in the Mubadala Citi Open, Coco Gauff joined hands with Andre Agassi and Andy Murray‘s former coach Brad Hilbert for a week. In a recent revelation, she explained her experience of working and training under a new coach, the changes he implemented, and how it would help her win the upcoming US Open.

It is always a unique and exciting experience to work with someone new. In the interview, Coco revealed her feelings about working with Brad. After being asked about how her experience has been so far working under a new coach, she did not shy away from putting in words of appreciation for her coach.
In the interview, Gauff revealed that she had a pleasant time working with a new coach. But they only made plans for just one week. However, depending on how things progress, she would possibly want to extend their collaborative tenure. She revealed, “Yeah, we started this week. Yeah, we have just started this week, and right now we, you know, have plans just for the week. I mean, obviously, how things go, we may expand in future tournaments. Working with him has been great. I really didn’t know him that well other than the commentating, just a little bit seeing his past coaching performances, but those were before I was born (smiling).”

The American prodigy’s words clearly indicate that is enjoying her time with a new coaching staff. It would not be far-fetched to presume that is all set to silence her critics at the US Open. However, the road to glory will not be an easy one.

In the same interview, Gauff also revealed that prior to starting with Gilbert, she was a little worried. Her preparation seemed to be up in the air.?But with guidance, she retains her willful and fiercely competitive edge.

While starting out new things, people can sometimes get a little worried about how things would turn out to be. Coco revealed that she was no different. She mentioned she was a bit worried because of the age difference between the two. However, her anxieties faded away as Brad turned out to be a fun-loving guy who did not let the age difference become a hindrance.

Coco said, “Yeah, he’s a very funny man. I was a little bit worried, because he is older, that I thought the generational thing, I didn’t want to be with someone who’s a wall. But he’s definitely not a wall. He’s making us laugh on the court constantly. I think he just makes the game fun and makes it simple. So I’m hoping if everything goes well we probably will continue after this.”
