American tennis legend Serena Williams recently played the last match of her tennis career. The 40-year-old earlier declared the US Open to be her last tournament. She started her campaign with a straight-set victory in her first match. Further, the 40-year-old won a tough match against second seed Anett Kontaveit. Playing in her third-round match, however, Serena ended on the losing side. Hence making it the last match of her career.

After retirement, a pertaining question that exists is, will Serena come out of retirement anytime again? Former tennis star John McEnroe gave his opinion on the same. Here’s what he said.

McEnroe doesn’t think Serena will make a comeback

Speaking about the chances of Serena coming out of retirement, McEnroe believes it won’t happen. However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of it happening. “She did leave the door open. It would be weird if she pulls a Tom Brady! These are superstars and even if you’re not, you’re entitled to change your mind,” he said.

Further, the 63-year-old explained why he believes Serena won’t be making a comeback. “She doesn’t want to play a lot of events. It’s that commitment, day after day, she wants a family, she’s a venture capitalist. She represents so many things besides tennis: women being paid and treated equally, women being able to express themselves on the court, to being treated the same way as guys,” he added.
