American tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams were not the most likable tennis players in their early days. One of the main reasons behind that was their father, Richard Williams. While the sisters kept their heads down and played some outstanding tennis, Richard made many controversial statements. Serena has been absolutely phenomenal from the start of her career. Coming out from the shadow of her sister, the girl from Compton was quick to make a name for herself. However, there were a few who thought that all that attention and brand endorsements she was getting was because she was one of the few African-American tennis players. Here’s how Serena reacted to it.

“All I know is I get endorsements because I win and I work hard,” she said. “I go out there and have a good attitude and I smile . . . As for being black and getting more endorsements because I’m black, I wouldn’t know anything about that,” she said.

The interview came just after Serena’s “billion-dollar” front cover picture in the Times magazine.

Is Serena thinking of a comeback?

After playing professional tennis for 27 long years, the American legend hung her racket. Her last tournament was the US Open 2022. She played well in the first two matches and retired after her third-round loss. Later, the 23-time Grand Slam champion also appeared in an interview with actor Bradley Cooper.

Here she made a reference to American football quarterback Tom Brady, who returned after retirement. This made her fans speculate about the 41-year-old’s comeback. In the interview, she further said, “I think if I want to come back, I can certainly do it.”
