Venus Williams rose through the ranks in tennis despite being a young Black woman, and consistently excelled and outperformed her competitors, ensuring her a spot among the best tennis players of all time. Along with her sister, Venus has changed the face of tennis. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that most brands chase the Williams sisters’ signatures to represent them. Recently, Venus Williams collaborated with Lacoste on a promotion video with Hollywood star, Saniyya Sidney.

Notably, Sidney played Venus’ younger self in the critically acclaimed movie, dramatizing the life of Richard Williams.

Saniyya Sidney and Venus Williams featured in a new clothing commercial for Lacoste. Saniyya shared the video on Twitter and expressed her happiness with the caption, “Dream come true campaign with my beautiful big sis”.

Earlier this year, Lacoste named Venus Williams as their global brand ambassador. The heritage tennis brand Lacoste is undergoing a creative rebirth as artistic director Louise Trotter changes it from a preppy uniform to a new modern essential. The end product is a sport/street hybrid that plays up its iconic alligator mark with modernized silhouettes and fresh color and fabric combinations.

Venus and Serena Williams are out of the doubles

Serena Williams and her sister Venus were defeated in the US Open‘s opening round, and there goes the dream of securing a last grand slam doubles title for the sisters. Four years after their final grand slam performance as a team and six years after winning the most recent of their 14 major titles, the sisters gave one last go in the US Open.

In the first round, Linda Noskova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic defeated Serena and Venus. The sisters were a dominant women’s doubles team throughout their career, and have cemented themselves one of the best doubles pairing to grace the courts.

Together with her sister Serena, she has amassed 14 major doubles championships; in fact, the duo is unbeaten in Grand Slam doubles finals. Additionally, in 2000, 2008, and 2012, the Williams sisters won three gold medals in women’s doubles at the Olympics. But their US open doubles journey came to an end in the first round.

Serena will now look forward to her third round match against Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia.
