The WTA ATX Open has commenced and is showing tennis fans in Austin, Texas, the tennis excitement they have been missing. Local favorite Danielle Collins will play against Olivia Gadecki in their first-round bout, as both players will hope for a win to boost them ahead for the rest of the tournament. Both players need a win.

Gadecki requires a win much more than Collins, as she is a young player hoping to find the right spot in the WTA. A good jump in the 2024 season can help shape a better future for her.

Collins began the 2024 season in the Brisbane International, where she could only manage a win in the first round. She then played in the Hobart International, where she lost in the first round. In the Australian Open, Collins lost to Iga Swiatek and then announced that she would step away from tennis after 2024.

She won the qualifiers in the Abu Dhabi and Qatar Open but saw herself eliminated in round 2 and the quarterfinal, respectively. She stepped back from the Qatar Open and now looks to improve her form in the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Gadecki has had a similar track to Collins in 2024. A second-round exit at Brisbane International was followed by a first-round exit at Hobart International. She would also lose in the first round of the Australian Open. Gadecki couldn’t manage to win the first qualifier in the Hua Hin Championships but won her qualifying matches in the ATX Open and will now look to win her main draw clash in Austin.  

Collins vs Gadecki: Head-to-Head

Danielle Collins and Olivia Gadecki have not faced each other on the WTA Tour yet. This match will be the first bout they play against each other. Both will have to come up with fresh strategies to win their clash. The audience will also get to see a new bout, but they are much more likely to support the local player who is likely in the last season of her career.

Prediction: Collins to take the win

The older American player has a much better fighting chance than Gadecki. While their tracks in 2024 have been similar, Collins is performing slightly better than the Aussie star. She is likely to take the win to make her final season more memorable. However, the match is not going to be easy for her to take the win.
