Karolina Pliskova’s run for the Qatar Total Energies Open came to an unexpected end as a lower back injury forced her to withdraw from the semifinals. The 31-year-old, who secured her spot by defeating Naomi Osaka, wasn’t fortunate enough to compete in the crucial match against Iga Swiatek as she prioritized her physical condition over the opportunity.

Her absence not only handed fans disappointment but also made it easier for Swiatek to advance to the final without having to play the SF. The Polish tennis star now gears up to face Elena Rybakina in the championship match.

While fans assumed that it was an easy push for Iga Swiatek into the finals, she recently came forward with a message to express her thoughts. “I’m happy to be in another final here in Doha but I wish we could play tonight and entertain you guys,” wrote the Polish tennis star on X.

Along with mentioning her desire to play the match, she also dropped a concerned response for Karolina Pliskova because of her injury. Hope you’ll get well soon @KaPliskova. Congrats to you and your team on your great two weeks,” she added. As the tennis star books a slot in the finals of the WTA 1000 event, it still remains to be seen if she manages to emerge victorious in the end.
