With some spectacular showdowns, this season’s San Diego Open has managed to pique the interest of the entire tennis community. It is part of the WTA Tour 500 category and is played on the outdoor hardcourts at the Barnes Tennis Center. Now that the quarterfinal round fixtures have concluded, the stage is set up for blockbuster semifinal matches between some of the top guns on the women’s tour.

After a second-round defeat at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships, Emma Navarro looks all agreed up to make amends at this WTA 500 event. Entering the tournament as the third seed, the American tennis star has swept aside the likes of Kateřina Siniaková and Daria Saville to reach the semifinals.

Katie Boulter, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after a lackluster campaign at the Linz Open. In her opening round matches in San Diego, the British player overcame the likes of the second seed, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and the Italian, Jasmine Paolini. Later, Boulter also pulled off another upset against the 7th seed, Donna Vekić, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
