Entering the tournament as the third seed, the American tennis star has swept aside the likes of Kateřina Siniaková and Daria Saville to reach the semifinals.

Katie Boulter, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after a lackluster campaign at the Linz Open. In her opening round matches in San Diego, the British player overcame the likes of the second seed, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and the Italian, Jasmine Paolini.
