The US Open 2021 will begin shortly and the today is the last day of the qualifiers of the Grand Slam. Interestingly, fans witnessed a big match today as rising star Emma Raducanu won her third straight qualifying match against Mayor Sherif in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 6-4.

With this victory, Emma Raducanu has sealed a spot in the main draw of the US Open 2021. After reaching the pre-quarters of the Wimbledon Championships 2021, it is another incredible accomplishment for the 18-year-old player.

Set-1: Emma Raducanu dominates the entire set

World No.150 Raducanu began the set on a high note as she easily won the first game. She broke in the second game after this and was leading 2-0.

The British player was looking in some great form. She won the third game too and the broke yet again in the fourth game to establish a 4-0 lead over her opponent. Interestingly, she won her following service game as well and was now just one game away to bagel Sherif.

Even though Sherif somehow won a game, she failed to break in the set. As a result, Raducanu won the set 6-1 in just 25 minutes.

Set-2: Game, Set, Match for Raducanu

Sherif got off to a great start as he she pulled off the first game quite easily. However, Raducanu equalized the scoreline at 1-1 at the end of the second game. The same story continued and the scoreline soon reached 2-2.

The British player finally broke in the fifth game and was now leading 3-2. However, Sherif broke back and leveled the scoreline at 3-3 in the very next game. The series of breaks continued as the British player broke yet again. She was leading 4-3 at this moment.

Raducanu finally managed to save the break and extended her lead to 5-3 at the end of the fifth game. She was now just one game away from entering into the main draw of the US Open 2021. However, despite earning two match-points in the following game, she failed to capitalise on either of them.

Serving for the set, Raducanu didn’t take long, conquered the game easily, and thus, won the match.
