Venus Williams’ massive influence once made a little girl pick up the tennis racket

Sydney Campbell, who has already made her mark on the ITF Tour, was recently featured in ‘The Two Percent Podcast’ show. During the episode, the 28-year-old opened up about her viewpoint on women’s tennis in the United States. Meanwhile, Campbell was also asked about the American tennis legends, Venus and Serena Williams and their influence on her tennis journey.

She answered by detailing an anecdote involving the 42-year-old tennis icon and her heartfelt gestures. Campbell revealed that her dad’s business partner once met the 7 singles Grand Slam champion at a hotel. She said, “They’re I mean, they were everything to me when I was little. My dad’s business partner back in the day went to some convention or something that my dad didn’t go to probably because he was coaching me, man, I think it was nine.”

During that meeting, Williams gave him a signed photograph along with a heartfelt note for Campbell.

She stated, “And he met Venus in the hotel and got a picture with her and got her to sign and like, write me a note. And it was the coolest thing. I mean, I treasured that forever. Oh, yeah. It was like, she knows who I am. She like she wrote me a note. She took a picture for me. And when she was really kind of him to do that for me, but yeah, they were just they were everything.”

Apart from Campbell, the former Wimbledon champion has inspired other young female tennis athletes including her compatriot, Coco Gauff. The American tennis prodigy has always regarded the Williams sisters as her idols on the women’s circuit.
