Just like how women are equally dominating tennis, just on the men’s side of the game, there was a time when female tennis players’ involvement had grown and paved the way for other superstars in the sport. While new-generation fans might not remember it, recently the 43-year-old Stevenson, in her latest podcast interview, opened up about the time when she made it to the main draw of the event.

She looked back to the time when she was 15 and highlighted how, even at that time, the tournament was considered a big event. Stevenson also highlighted how, in some way or the other, it was a monumental era for women’s tennis, as several players, including Lindsay Davenport, Steffi Graf, and Venus Williams, were a part of the event.

She said, “It was at the Hyatt Grand Champions, those old courts, and I have the t-shirt that the tournament gave you, and it had the draw on the back of it. And in that draw has Monica Seles, Stephanie, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, a bunch I think Venus Williams was on there, and a bunch of other names that it’s just so cool to look at because it was really, that was when women’s tennis was a big deal.”
