WTA realm boasts of multiple tennis celebrities like Chris Evert, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, and others who have made a comeback after becoming a mother. They have proven to be an inspiration for the new generation of WTA players. One such player is Elina Svitolina. However, it was not Serena Williams who motivated her to make a comeback.

Crediting other WTA personalities as her motivation behind her comeback, she sidelined the name of the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Despite that, Svitolina is making sure to bring her best game to the French Open.

Serena Williams shocked the world after winning the 2017 Australian Open. After her victory, she revealed that she was pregnant while the major was going on. Furthermore, when she made a comeback after giving birth to Olympia, she reached the finals of two majors the next year.

Her comeback stirred the hearts of sports enthusiasts all over the world. However, there were other WTA players like her who did the same. And it is these players who have proved to be Svitolina’s motivation. The Ukrainian player gave birth to her daughter Skai with Gael Monfils six months ago. And now she is back with an astounding comeback.

During the press conference, she was asked about her inspiration. Svitolina stated, “Well, I didn’t have any contact with anyone, but I know a few athletes.” Continuing, she added, “Like Tatjana Maria, she made final in Wimbledon.” Her run proved motivational for the player. Svitolina stated, “It’s a huge motivation to do better, even better than she did this amazing run.”

She also quoted Kim Clijsters who made a comeback in 2009 after having her daughter Jada. Svitolina added, “Clijsters, she won a Grand Slam after the baby. So I have this motivation to do it.” The Ukrainian player last year faced issues because of the Russian-Ukraine conflict. This year, however, she wants to perform her best on the court.
