6 Years After Fresh Start, Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Details How Daughter’s Name Was Connected to His Extremely Personal Project

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are preparing to welcome a new addition to their family. But that doesn’t mean the couple’s unwavering love for their firstborn, Olympia, has diminished in any way. Although both Alexis and Serena pamper Olympia whenever they get the chance, the co-founder of Reddit often goes overboard. One such occasion was naming his venture fund. However, Serena Williams stopped him and made a prophecy that is coming true now!

The 23-time Grand Slam champion openly claims Olympia to be her biggest achievement in life. However, she also knew when to stop her husband from going overboard with his fatherly love for their daughter.

Serena Williams stopped Alexis Ohanian because of jealousy?

Williams and Alexis Ohanian have made it possible for Olympia to become the youngest owner of a professional sports team, Angel City FC. However, Serena abstained Alexis Ohanian from making a crucial mistake while naming his venture fund.

The Reddit co-founder recently took to Twitter to credit his wife, who made sure he named his venture fund thoughtfully. He said, “My daughter’s name is Olympia, and I wanted to name the firm after her, cuz she had an impact on my decision to resign from the board of Reddit and push for a black director.”

However, no matter how much love he had for Olympia, his wife did not want him to name his venture fund after Olympia. He added, “But my wife was like, don’t name it after Olympia cuz we’re gonna have another kid; very prophetic; and they’re gonna be jealous.” The venture was eventually named 776 Foundation.

In hindsight, it looks like Serena knew exactly what she was talking about as the couple expect to welcome their second child soon.

What does 776 signify? 

Ohanian was once having a conversation with a friend and then he came across the name 776. However, he made sure to give tribute to his daughter even then. He showed the conversation he had on WhatsApp with the friend. This conversation eventually led him to decide on his venture fund’s name. He added, “I get the idea 776 BCE was the first year of the ancient Olympic games. Olympia and Olympic games…”

Additionally, a fan pointed out that their names, Ohanian and Olympia, had 7 letters each and then another fan pointed out that Serena had 6. So, by this theory as well, the name set itself well.

So, that is how Ohanian finally found a name for his venture fund, which did not have Olympia’s name on it. However, he still has her essence in the name which can be deciphered by the younger sibling once he/she grows up.
