A few years back, the 18-time Grand Slam champion, Chris Evert, talked about how the younger generation is focusing more on glamour than on their tennis skills.

However, some tennis stars like Maria Sharapova. She, despite being a top-ranked player, was called the tennis barbie doll from Russia by many of her tennis fans.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion once talked about the glamour side of women’s tennis. She said, “If you look like Maria Sharapova or Eugenie Bouchard, you’re always going to have companies coming after you with endorsements, because companies like successful women who are good-looking. That’s the way it’s always been.”

The American tennis ace pointed out the endorsement companies as they always look for multi-talented women, who are good-looking and play excellent sports. She also took some tennis players’ names and talked about how these companies work.

Further, she also shared how one can get paid without posing naked in front of the cameras. She said, “It’s the women’s choice how they want to come across, but you don’t have to pose naked. It should be enough that – no matter how you look – you are successful because of hard work and doing what you love to do.” 

Evert and Martina Navratilova rivalry

Evert and Martina Navratilova’s rivalry is one of the biggest rivalries in the history of tennis. Both the tennis giants are people’s favorite even today after so many decades. They both have won 18 Grand Slam titles over their career span. Notably, for the majority of their career, they both had the top two positions in the world simultaneously.
