Both Serena and Andy are legends of the sport. While Roddick retired in 2012, Serena has just recently given up playing tennis. However, there are still speculations about Serena making a comeback. Serena and Andy are childhood friends. The two met at Rick Macci’s academy during their formative years in tennis. Over the years, their friendship grew, as both went on to not only play professional tennis but dominate it at their peak. Thus, when Serena declared her retirement, the 40-year-old was in shock. The reason was that it came as a surprise for him and there was no prior discussion between him and Serena about it.
Further, Roddick admitted that he anticipated it and also lauded Serena for revolutionizing the sport. He also lauded Richard Williams for giving the world two star tennis players in Serena and Venus.
