Venus and Serena Williams are two of the best players to play the game. The American sister duo has been phenomenal in their over two-decade-long career. Also, the two are very close as they grew up together, learning the basics of tennis from their parents.

Although the world knows the contribution of their father in their career, there’s surely a much more important role that their mother has played for her kids. In an interview, Oracene Price, shared some memories from the childhood of the legendary sister duo.

Oracene Price on handling Serena’s anger

Tennis is an intense and exhausting game. Every player, at some point or other, goes through an outburst of emotions and anger. Serena is no different, as she has had some good and some bad days on the court. When the interviewer asked Price how she would handle an angry Serena Williams after a tough day, she said,

“Just leave them, don’t say anything. I just learned it, don’t know, I just never did it. Don’t tell them what you should have done and what they shouldn’t. That will drive them crazy. You just have to leave them alone.”

While Serena and Venus are very close as sisters, they have always had an intense rivalry on the court. Having trained together for a long time, they understand each other’s game very well and often draw the best out of each other whenever they come face to face.

If we go by the achievements, younger sister Serena has been the more successful of the two, with 23 major titles. However, Venus is a legend herself and has got 7 Grand Slam titles to her name. Serena also leads their head-to-head record comfortably with a margin of 19-12.
