Earlier, Martina tweeted after seeing the video as she said, “Holy moly- this girl rocks!!!!”

Of course, she was referring to that girl named Abigail Dennis who won that race despite falling hard on the ground. However, she didn’t give up and continued her run and picked up an incredible pace near the end of the race. Notably, this incident took place at the Bergen county championships, where many girls were participating in hurdling trials. Now, Olympic’s official Twitter handle also asked for this video to feature on their official Twitter account.

Incidentally, Chris Evert made her debut at the age of 16, much earlier than Navratilova. While Martina had to go through some difficulties earlier in her career. After making her professional debut in 1975, Martina won her first Grand Slam in 1978 at Wimbledon, where she beat Evert.

Meanwhile, Evert had already become a superstar by winning both French Open and Wimbledon in 1974. In 1975, the Czech-American player reached the French Open final, where she lost to Evert.

At the beginning of their rivalry, Evert was really dominant against Navratilova. Evert’s main game style was her powerful groundstrokes and Navratilova was more of a server and volley player. Their rivalry became more famous because of their contrasting style of play.
