Chris Evert, a legend of the game, who has now joined hands in the commentary box, in a recent revelation suggested that she would be heading out for chemotherapy after she was diagnosed with cancer back in 2021.

This would eventually result in her missing the Australian Open. However, this news came out as a shocker for her fans who did not expect this to happen. Fans from all around the world joined hands in wishing Evert a speedy recovery.

Evert called herself cancer-free earlier this year

Interestingly, Chris Evert was first diagnosed with Ovarian cancer back in the year 2021. However, after multiple rounds of chemotherapy and care, it was back in 2022 when she suggested that there are nearly 90-95% chance that her cancer would not return.

Then, in the month of January 2023, she declared herself cancer-free. She went under 6 chemotherapy rounds after she announced herself cancer-free. However, the sudden reappearance took her by surprise as even she might not have hoped for it to happen.

Evert, who joined ESPN back in the year 2011, would thus miss the Australian Open because of the chemotherapy sessions that she had to attend. While the news of her reveal shocked her fans, they joined hands in wishing her the best and hoped that she would come out of it with a bright smile on her face.
