Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka, is not having a good year. The 24-year-old is not in a good form and had recurring injury troubles. Talking about her performance, the Japanese failed to defend her Australian Open title and lost to Amanda Anisimova. Further, in the French Open 2022, she had a first-round exit against the same opponent.

The 24-year-old missed out on the Wimbledon Championships 2022 because of an injury. She played a few tournaments in the American swing before entering the US Open. However, she yet again lost her first-round match. While addressing the press after her defeat, the Japanese spoke about playing in her home country.
Osaka speaks about her mental state
A reporter asked Osaka if she was excited to go back to play in Japan. The 24-year-old replied, “You’re like an investigator, huh?” She further added, “I would love to play Japan. Olympics, there was no crowd, which was really sad. I would love to have the opportunity to play in front of people in Japan. I have a pretty good track record there, so it would be nice.”
Further, she spoke about her problem of overthinking. “When I said my head is everywhere, I just mean, like, I’m the type of person that thinks a lot, to the point where I overthink. Sometimes when I play matches, I have to tell myself to, like, stop thinking, just go more on instinct, yeah.”

The 24-year-old added, “I feel like I just have to chill a little bit because there’s a lot of like random chaos in my head right now.”
Naomi Osaka predicted Serena Williams’ retirement
As Serena Williams declared her retirement from tennis, Naomi Osaka said, she already had a feeling about it. Notably, the 24-year-old is a huge fan of Williams and has said time and again that she was the inspiration behind her picking up the racket.

Osaka said that while watching Serena play in the National Bank Open, she started crying because she felt that Serena was going to retire after the American hard court swing.
