So, recently he took to his Twitter to share his “hot take” on how young minds should pitch their ideas for funding. From confidence to the concise yet clear motive of the pitch, Ohanian got into the basics of it all.

The Reddit co-founder has garnered a lot of experience through his multiple successful business and tech endeavors. Right now, managing a venture firm, 776, he has seen a lot of young entrepreneurs come for funding. However, he made his observation of how an ideal pitch for funding should be.

The 40-year-old business entrepreneur started with a crisp yet impactful trick. He stated, “If you can’t explain your idea to a complete stranger in 30 seconds FLAT—you’re not ready for funding.” Moreover, he understood that it would come only if the pitcher had an exact idea of his business endeavor.

Furthermore, he stated, “A cool idea is not enough. It has to have a market (or an obvious path to building one).” Hence, one needs to make that clear for future funders.

He brought his audience’s notice to the delivery of the pitch and stated, “Speak clearly and confidently. And take a breath between words! (Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised…).” 

Ohanian asked these young entrepreneurs to avoid jargon and buzzwords. At last, he added, “Clearly communicate the WHY behind your product/service.”
