Career or motherhood? Mother of three, Chris Evert, once answered the most difficult question ever asked. The 18-time Grand Slam champion believes that winning a Wimbledon can never be compared to the joyous experience of being a mother.
Till the time the Tennis Legend was on the tennis court, everything revolved around her tennis racket and her practices. But after she became a mother, she felt that having a successful career is a good feeling, but giving birth to someone and creating a life is the greatest feeling in the world.

During a throwback interview with Charlie Rose, the American tennis legend was asked about how is life after achieving greatness as an athlete. To which the tennis star replied, “Life is great for me.” further, she talked about how she is winning in life after becoming a mother and compared her Wimbledon victories to her experiences of handling a child.

She said, “Having a child is more joy to me than winning Wimbledon. I’ll tell you what. Winning Wimbledon was the greatest experience for about a day or two. I mean, you’re on a high. But it doesn’t carry over. I mean, the next month, you’re on to St. Louis playing a tournament, and you’re not riding on that exhilaration. Having a child, for me, is joy 24 hours a day, you know. I love– I mean, I found my niche. I feel like I’m a mother, you know, and I feel like I’m a– I really enjoy being a mother. And also, since I’ve retired, when I wake up in the morning I feel like I’m on vacation every day, because I think you don’t realize the pressure until after you retire.”

Nevertheless, the three-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed her time as a mother. And even earlier this month when the four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka announced her pregnancy, the American tennis star highlighted how everything changes after having your first child.

The Japanese tennis player also revealed that she will return to the court in 2024, right after giving birth to a child. Evert, though, thinks that everything changes after having your first child.

She also talked about how a mother’s persistent desire to stay at home, change diapers sometimes, and spend every second just watching her children develop is something very different. However, the tennis player clarified that it is only one of two mindsets. Both of which are equally correct depending on how the person feels after giving birth.
