America’s tennis icon Jessica Pegula recently shared updates about her mother’s health on ‘The Players Tribune’. Although the incident happened back in 2022, she still feels rattled by the incident. Jessica’s parents- Kim and Terry Pegula are owners of the Buffalo Bills franchise of the NFL. However, even the most privileged are left helpless at the hands of fate. And so was the case with Terry Pegula as he woke up to his wife going into cardiac arrest.
Talking about the weeks that followed the episode, Pegula pens down how her family walked on eggshells, too scared of what would come next. But most of all, her father needs to be commended, whose constant efforts for his wife are both endearing and sorrowful to hear. As Pegula talks about her family’s schedule during the days her mother was fighting death, we cannot help but pray for this misfortune to never cross their paths ever again.

As Jessica writes in The Players Tribune, her father woke up to the horrifying sight of his wife going into cardiac arrest, and soon after she received a call from her sister, Kelly. It was their mom’s birthday. As they tried to get the paramedics to arrive as soon as possible, Jessica’s sister started performing CPR on their mother.
After the doctors treated Kim’s heart and fixed the primary malfunction, there were still a lot of things that needed to be taken care of.

Reminiscing about the days after, Pegula writes, “We lived in that hospital for basically two weeks. We took shifts, we brought each other food, we knew all the nurses and doctors, we even knew their schedules.”
Talking about her father, she remembers how they had to force him to take some rest. However, he wouldn’t budge. “We had to force my dad to go home and sleep, but most of the time he didn’t. He would go sit in his car to get away or come to my house.”

Terry’s love and dedication for his wife know no bounds as he refused to go back home without Kim. “He didn’t want to go back to their house unless my mom was back with him.”
Further elaborating on the exhausting condition of the family in the hospital, Pegula writes, “When they say one day in the hospital equals a week to recover, that is no joke. We were all mentally and physically exhausted.”

However, when rumors about Kim’s hospitalization surfaced later that year, the family did not give out details. Although they told the world that Kim was doing well, the entire family was going through something unimaginable altogether. After Pegula’s confession to the world, we can now feel the shudders thinking of the pain they went through and defeated as a family.
