The entire sporting realm is shaken after a shocking on-field incident with the Buffalo Bills player, Damar Hamlin. The NFL star collapsed during the league match against the Cincinnati Bengals and it is further being reported that he suffered “cardiac arrest” and is in “critical condition”. Consequently, the incident has raised various concerns regarding the player and the game. The tennis community is also shocked by the news, as some of the biggest names, like Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova, showed their concern for Hamlin.

Even Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian addressed the incident on his social media. While sending their prayers for the NFL player, they also demanded that the game should be postponed immediately after the incident.

During the first quarter of the game, the Buffalo Bills player took a hard hit on the ground after getting tackled by an opponent. Later on, Damar Hamlin stood up and then collapsed on the field. According to the CNN, he situation was so critical that he reportedly received medical attention for over 30 minutes, including CPR.

The whole incident was so daunting that the players from both teams knelt to pray for Hamlin. Some of the players were also spotted weeping upon witnessing the horrifying incident. Meanwhile, other notable figures expressed their concerns over the NFL star using their online platform. The American tennis legend, Billie Jean King took to Twitter to send her prayers for Hamlin. She said, “Offering up prayers and strength for Damar Hamlin of the @BuffaloBills.” 

Meanwhile, King also demanded that “The game should be postponed immediately.”

Another tennis legend, Martina Navratilova also said, “Cancel the game!!!”

Unsurprisingly, the game was suspended by the NFL considering the severity of the incident. The American tennis player, Jessica Pegula also voiced her concerns after she came to know about the news. She said, “Praying praying praying 🙏”

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian addressed the incident by sharing the news on his Instagram story. Along with him, the former tennis player, Patrick McEnroe took to his social media to offer his prayers for the Buffalo Bills player. He said, “Oh man…praying for Damar Hamlin”
