The American tennis player, Serena Williams has successfully transformed women’s tennis with her aggressive playing style. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has won the most titles than any other player during the Open era. She will be surely remembered as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Recently, the US figure skater, Nathan Chen, mentioned the tennis legend in his new memoir.

Nathan Chen has been the most dominant male figure skater the sport has ever seen. He won every competition he entered for more than 1,300 days. Chen won the men’s competition at the Winter Olympics in 2022. He became the seventh American male athlete to do so.

Nathan Chen credits Serena Williams as his inspiration in his memoir

Serena went on to win 22 more championships after taking home her first Grand Slam victory at the US Open in 1999. At Wimbledon, she won seven championships, three at the French Open, seven at the Australian Open, and six more at the US Open. In addition, Serena has won two mixed doubles championships and 14 doubles titles with her sister Venus. Serena Williams met Chen at the Pyeongchang Olympics. Chen had struggled at the event and finished 17th. He appreciated Serena Williams for reaching out to him at a difficult time and for being a source of great inspiration in his memoir, One Jump at a Time: My Story.

He further added, “To just give me some support and some words of encouragement.” Chen won the bronze medal in the mixed team competition in 2018 and came back roaring in the Beijing Olympics in 2022, securing the gold medal in Men’s single skating and the silver medal in the team competition.

Serena recently partnered with DoorDash

A technology company, DoorDash, helps people find the best groceries and food deliveries in their cities. Serena Williams and the company recently collaborated to create the ‘Serena x DashPass Wrap Pack’. It is a high-end gift-wrapping set that includes bows, gift tags, and wrapping paper. The Yetunde Price Resource Center (YPRC) will receive a $10 donation from DoorDash for each wrapping paper claimed, up to a total of $50,000.

The Yetunde Price Resource Center was established in 2003 to honor the memory and life of Serena Williams’ oldest sister, Yetunde, who was tragically killed in a violent shooting incident in Compton.
