The tennis arenas are generally equipped with everything a player might require to be stable on the court. However, sometimes, the intensity levels could be as high as one can think, making athletes wish for a short break to get hydrated. The ongoing showdown between Danielle Collins and Caroline Wozniacki began as matches usually do but eventually took an unexpected turn, involving both players, the umpire, the fans, and whatnot.

The American WTA star seemed to be putting on a dominant display as soon as the showdown started. Point after point and game after game, she swiftly managed to get the first and eventually the match in her name (6-3, 3-6, 6-3). However, the victory wasn’t served as a piece of cake. Things started to go west as Wozniacki forced a decider against Collins and both the rivals were eventually seen making efforts to explain their demands to the chair umpire.

Collins, struggling to convince the umpire, was even seen making an urge to allow her a short break to grab some water. “I’ve asked kindly can you please help me get some water? We have 60 seconds on this changeover. Can you please help me get water? Thank you,” the 30-year-old said. While Collins continued to fight her own battles, her rival Wozniacki was backed by a group of Danish fans who made extreme noises, siding with their representative.

While the American was fierce enough because of the heated moment, she didn’t even back down from giving it back to the fans. The veteran made a gesture, challenging enough for the fans as well as her rival. While the showdown eventually ended with Danielle Collins emerging victorious, Wozniacki was evidently shattered as she left the court with tears in her eyes. However, this wasn’t the first time when Collins took a fierce stand against the crowd.

When Danielle Collins offered a strict lesson to a heckler

There have been several incidents where fans witnessed the fierce side of Danielle Collins. The WTA star, who is currently exploring the last few weeks of her professional tennis career, was indulged in a showdown against Jaqueline Christian where a heckler consistently tried to hinder the American’s focus with his calls.

Collins, unable to hold her frustration down, decided to teach him an unforgettable lesson. “You come out and you play. Come out here and do what I do, okay? Have a little more respect,” she said, asking him to treat the athletes with respect. Although this came out with rage, it still was an important message extended to all the tennis fans out there. As she now looks forward to her first and last Olympic campaign, it still remains to be seen if more drama awaits.
