There is no looking back for Ajla Tomljanovic. With an impressive performance in Wimbledon after one and half years of break, Tomljanovic bagged her season’s second feat by representing her country at the Paris Olympics. Her talent has sparked people’s curiosity about her background. While she begins her second Olympics today, her parents came under the much-deserved spotlight, showing how they motivated the Aussie WTA star to play.

Tomljanovic is all set to face off against Coco Gauff in the first round of the Paris Olympic women’s singles. Her first match against Gauff has brought much spotlight to the Australian WTA star, fueling people’s curiosity about her parents. Tomljanovic’s father and mother, Ratko and Emina Tomljnovic were also former tennis players. Not just that but Ratko Tomljanovic played tennis professionally and reached a career-high rank of 50.
He also represented Croatia in the Davis Cup team. On the other hand, Tomljanovic’s mother, Emina, was also a professional tennis player and ranked in the top 100. The Australian WTA star was born in Croatia but moved to Australia with her parents when she was 14. Tomljanovic’s background reveals the source of her brilliant athletic genes and incredible tennis skills.

Tomljanovic’s father was also a professional handball player and bagged the Handball European Cup in 1993 and 1994. He was Team Croatia’s captain. Ratko Tomljanovic is known to be Ajla Tomljnovic’s debut coach when the WTA star started playing tennis at six.
Tomljanovic had three professional coaches afterward. However, Netflix’s Break Point confirmed that Tomjanovic was coached by her father after she parted ways with her former coach, Alessandro Bega, in 2022.

This Australian WTA star always mentioned about her supportive family regarding her professional goals. she suffered an injury after the 2022 Bille Jean King Cup and spent one and half years in rehabilitation. After recovering, Tomljanovic expressed huge delight about attending the Paris Olympics.

Ajla Tomljanovic reveals that attending the Olympics is a “dream come true” moment for her
The Paris Olympics is not Tomljanovic’s debut Olympic participation, as she attended the Tokyo Olympics. However, she was defeated in the second round by Elina Svitolina, the bronze medalist. This year, Tomljanovic said about attending Paris, “When Tokyo ended, I remember thinking to myself I have to work really hard to make it to Paris because being at the Olympics was a dream come true and I wanted to experience it again, I am feeling good, I feel like every match I have under my belt brings me closer to the level of play I want to get to.”
Tomljanovic also expressed her dedication to the Paris Olympics and mentioned taking good care of her health and fitness. “Physically I am pulling up well after matches, which is the most important thing, so I am very happy with my health, and I think the more time I get on court the better I will be for Paris,” she said.
