Subsequently, there were also times when she even stood by the two-time World Cup champion as she dealt with critics. Just a few months ago, when the 38-year-old became a target of scrutiny, Williams’ former coach came in support of her.

When Williams’ coach supported Megan Rapinoe

Earlier this year, when the FIFA World Cup in Melbourne was going on, the Olympic gold medalist became a target of backlash from many American fans due to a missed penalty that made her the main villain. While things were not going well for the American soccer star, Stubbs stepped in to give a proper answer to the hater.

The 52-year-old tennis coach made it clear that it was such an embarrassing thing and that the same thing would not be said to other sporting legends, like Muhammad Ali, Billie Jean King, and Arthur Ashe.
