Robinson stated that Williams could outperform male players, claiming, “There’s been this news article about men that think they can beat Serena Williams in tennis. And it’s just not the case. She is stronger than them.” Riley Gaines, the highly accomplished University of Kentucky swimmer, immediately disputed Robinson’s claims by citing instances where male athletes had bested the Williams sisters. “Both Serena and Venus lost to the 203rd-ranked male tennis player,” she said.
