The roots of the case date back to February when Griner was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport. As per the Russian officials, the 31-year-old was detained for reportedly carrying small amounts of prohibited substances. After spending months in the Russian prison, the WNBA star was sentenced to 9 years in prison, along with a fine of 1 million ruble.

While King has been active on social media for Griner, she has made sure to not let the case affect her professional life.
