The former world no. 1, who recently celebrated her 35th birthday also announced that she is expecting her first child with her fiance Alexander Gilkes. In a recent video, she also opened up about her life, how she spends her day, and about remaining mentally and physically healthy.

Maria Sharapova in the video talked about working out and maintaining good mental health by always prioritizing oneself over others. She also opened up about her favorite author. The five-time Grand Slam champion said that Adam Grant is her favorite person to read as she immensely enjoys his writing style. She also likes the way he links his stories up with real-life experiences.

Adam Grant is a popular science author, who specialized in organizational psychology. Sharapova said, “I’m a huge fan of Adam Grant. His way of connecting stories to real-life experiences and the way that he puts his words on paper I find incredible.” She mentioned his work when asked about the book that changed her life.

Maria Sharapova puts herself first
In the interview, Sharapova talked about taking care of her mental health as well. She said that she does that by setting small achievable goals for herself. It can be in the form of a small to-do list or spending time with her family, eating healthy, and taking some time to take cognizance of how she is feeling.

“The best thing I’ve learned in the past year is that you can get too far ahead of yourself. I think it’s important to visualize and have goals that I’ve always done in that my life and in my career. But sometimes it’s best just to get things done on the day. The quirkiest thing I did in the name of wellness a few months ago. I did a week at an Ayurvedic spa,” Sharapova recalled in the interview.
