AEW has been in the news after it’s blockbuster signing of ‘The Rainmaker’ Kazuchika Okada. Now his bitter rival and the former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is the latest one to occupy the deadlines, dropping a worrying update on his health complications.

‘The Cleaner’ has been out of action for a while now since he received a career-halting injury during AEW Collison back in December last year. With fans awaiting his return with bated breath, Kenny Omega’s latest confession hit them in dispirit.

After two months of completely being shelved, the former NPJW star was in comparatively good health and was showing rapid recovery signs. The wrestling world became more sure of the hopeful progress after the company head honcho himself hyped them up with the relaxing news. He let the world know that Omega is really doing better than before, but he could be in a life-threatening condition if the timely medical interferences weren’t there for the save. With this, fans again started to see the light at the end of the tunnel and jumped on to anticipate the return date. But to their dismay, the situation isn’t looking smooth.

While everyone expected the sidelined star to share a timeline of when he will return to confront the Young Bucks, who got him fired from the Elite, it seems Omega isn’t ready at all to make a return to the ring.

In a shocking revelation, the Canadian-born noted, ”I’d love to say, ‘Hey guys, I’m on track to coming back next week, next month, or in half a year. I don’t have that confidence this time.’ When they’re explaining to me I was 24 hours away from getting a terrible blood infection and possibly dying, this is like news to me. I’ve never heard of anything like that, I thought it was like, just shrugging it off. I was close to dying. Like are you kidding me? No way ”

For those who don’t know, Omega has been fighting a rare health complication, diverticulitis. On top of it, a delay in surgery worsened his symptoms severely.

However, given he’s still yet to be fit completely, AEW made sure to let know those trying to replace him that they’ve got big boots to fill.

Kenny Omega had a warning message for those trying to snatch his spot amidst his absence

The Young Bucks delivered a spectacular match against Sting and Darby Allin at Revolution 2024 pay-per-view. But what made fans talk even more was their shocking decision to fire Omega from the Elite. To everyone’s surprise, on Dynamite yesterday, the brothers announced Kenny Omega isn’t a part of The Elite anymore. And shortly after, Tony Khan planted Kazuchika Okada in the stable as his replacement.

Despite not being able to be physically present, Omega absorbed it all. He took to an interview to vent his feelings about it. To Okada and all the other new wrestlers, the veteran noted, ”You want to call yourself the best, f**king prove it, b*tch,” Kenny Omega said.”

Given the extreme nature of Omega’s illness. Fans will need to bide their time and wait and see if and when Kenny Omega returns to the fold. If ‘The Cleaner’ does manage to get back in ring shape however, he has a wealth of former rivals to step into the ring with in the form of Okada, Ospreay and many more newcomers to AEW’s main event scene.
