Former WWE Superstar Shows Gratitude Toward Tony Khan’s AEW for Uplifting Their Family: “Make Things Better”

Ever since Survivor Series WarGames concluded, the only thing that wrestling fans have been talking about is the shocking return of CM Punk. This was Punk’s first appearance in a wrestling arena after being fired from AEW back in September. But just like WWE opened its arms for an outcast Punk, AEW also did the same for two WWE superstars back in 2022.

This ex-WWE Champion opened up about how AEW has been really kind to her family.

2020 was a tough time for everyone around the world due to the pandemic. Many people lost their jobs due to COVID-19. WWE also suffered the pandemic’s adverse effects as they initiated a massive wave of layoffs in 2020. During the first round of layoffs, multiple stars were let go, including Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

In addition, they also released Maria Kanellis and her husband Mike Bennett. After that, the couple returned to ROH (Ring Of Honor) and then IMPACT wrestling. Finally, in October 2022, Kanellis and Bennett joined AEW and have been with them ever since.

Bennett recently had a Q&A session with his followers on Twitter and one of them asked him, #NeckStrong how has AEW treated your family since joining ?”. Bennette happily replied, “I f*****g love @AEW and what they’ve done for my family. Can I say that? Last time I expressed gratitude I got yelled at on this app”. His wife Maria Kanellis then retweeted his response and added her own two cents, “AEW has taken care of our family thus far. They have listened to our concerns and continued to try and make things better. Gratitude is important in all growth. I appreciate the opportunity and can’t wait to see what comes next”.

I still vividly remember the time when WWE VHS's used to be played on cable movie channels every Sunday(early 90s in India). And that's where my love for the WWE began. My love and passion for pro wrestling only grew over the years in the form of a mini collection of cards, stickers, tees, action figures and even a WWE Championship belt signed by the 'Big Red Machine' Kane himself (talk about getting lucky).
