Will Ospreay has made a name for himself with his stint with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The Aerial Assassin has had plenty of five-star rating matches in the Japan-based promotion. With the news of him becoming a free agent in the coming year emerging, he drew some criticism from an AEW star. Friedman, famously known as MJF shed some light on how he is better than the 30-year-old NJPW star.

Why MJF is better than Will Ospreay?

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Fan Nation, MJF talked about what makes him different from Will Ospreay. He said, “Will’s (Ospreay) great, but he’s not the complete package.” MJF then added that he is a complete package compared to Ospreay. There have been rumors that many major promotions will be trying to secure Will Ospereay after his contract with NJPW expires next year.

On the other hand, MJF also looks likely to hit free agency as his contract with AEW expires in 2024. MJF has made a name for himself due to his snarky and sarcastic tone coupled with in-ring abilities. During AEW’s latest pay-per-view, Full Gear, the AEW World champion, teamed with Samoa Joe to defend the Ring of Honor tag-team titles against Austin and Colten Gunn.

Even though they were successful in defending their titles, they later attacked MJF during the aftermath of the bout. Currently, the New York Mets fan is enjoying his run as the new baby face of the company.

While Ospreay has built quite a fan following amidst pro wrestlers as well, looks like MJF is not particularly a fan. On one hand, a lot of pro wrestlers are eager to work with the 30-year-old. On the other, MJF is not that keen on the prospect.

MJF on working with Will Ospreay

Further in the interview, he talked about his intentions to work with Ospreay. He said, “The scary part is I haven’t even hit my ceiling yet,” hinting that the star believes there is more he can offer the fans in the future. MJF then added, “Luckily for Will, he hasn’t had to step in the ring with me. If he never does, he will continue to be lucky.” This could be a warning for Ospreay or could be interpreted as an open challenge.

He then went out to make a comment on Ospreay showing that he was not that enthusiastic about working with Ospreay. The AEW star said, “As far as Will Ospreay goes, that guy is, as his people would say, a bellend.” He further added, “I would like him to stay very far away from me.” MJF is set to be a free agency next year and so is Will Ospreay. With the NJPW confirming his status as an All-Elite now, the wrestling legion could see this fated rivalry play out soon. Do you think they both will become rivals right off the bat if they ever get signed by WWE?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let’s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
