There were rumors and speculations for months. Every bit of social media material regarding Sasha Banks was broken down like a forensic crime scene. Then, finally, on AEW Big Business, Mercedes Mone debuted. Everything fans heard about her joining Tony Khan’s promotion came true, and they would finally see Mone in action. While this was great for the fans and a big payday for Mone, there is something bigger to be celebrated. Taking to social media, the former WWE Women’s Champion announced her next Mone-move.

Mercedes Mone celebrates the release of her first single CEO

Something that WWE and all Mone fans know is her love for music. Her cousin is Snoop Dogg, which adds to this love. However, to date, she hasn’t been able to dabble in it, but everything changed at AEW Big Business. When Mone made her debut, she did so with a new entrance theme song. Fans thought it was designed specifically for her as it was her moniker of ‘CEO.’ However, taking to social media, Mone revealed it was her first single.

On her Instagram, she posted, “This is the soundtrack to my Reign 🤑 Listen to my debut single “CEO” on all streaming platforms.” She mentioned that she would be working on music while on the Kicks Rock podcast. The song titled CEO incorporates a classical sample. This indicates Mone has a broader taste in music beyond just wrestling hype music. While venturing into music is a big avenue for her, she will also benefit from royalties on the song, which is another big incentive.

With her feet now in music, Mone is set to receive royalties whenever the title will be used, even in AEW. Since the song was produced by Mone herself, AEW does not own it and will have to pay the royalties for using it on the show and at PPVs. Compensation is among the biggest factors when discussing why Mone didn’t return to the WWE. The former tag team champion in the company chose AEW as they offered her a significantly larger amount.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said, “One WWE woman star noted to us that they were hearing that the number was enough to make her the highest-paid woman in pro wrestling.” While the amount AEW offered Mone is unknown, it is clear that it was more than what the WWE was offering.
