“Ric Flair Is a Mogul”: Tony Khan Discusses Ric Flair’s Impact in AEW, Lauds Him for Sponsorship Opportunity & Special Presence in the Roster

Ric Flair is a legend in the pro wrestling business. Not only that but with time, he’s become a legend in the THC market as well. Yes, this is not the Nature Boy Ric Flair but the business mogul Flair we’re talking about. While in the WWE, the Hall of Famer played many roles. However, it is a completely different case in AEW, as Tony Khan explains.

Flair made his debut in AEW in October 2023 as a special gift to The Icon Sting. This would be his last gift from AEW before he retires.

Without a doubt, Ric Flair has stood the test of time. Despite being over 70, he has still kept himself relevant in the field of pro wrestling. While not actively performing, we have seen him hit a chop here and there. Currently signed on to AEW, he’s part of Sting’s farewell months. But how did Flair impact AEW?

Khan, recently appeared on News4JAX The Local Station. The episode titled Going Ringside Ep. 45: AEW Owner Tony Khan. Regarding Flair, Khan said, “Ric Flair is a mogul, and he’s certainly somebody who is involved in a lot of businesses as an entrepreneur.” Thanks to Flair’s WOO Energy, he entered the business field.

Khan also added, “So Ric Flair’s Woo Energy is a great sponsor.” Since bringing Flair over to AEW, Woo Energy has been a major sponsor for the show. This has been a great opportunity similar to the likes of LA Knight and Slim Jims for the WWE.

While Flair has not been active inside the ring, he’s been by Sting’s side during his matches. The two have a history together in WCW and have kept their bond going despite working for different companies. Sting has said in the ring that he owes his career to Flair for teaching him and helping him grow.

Flair will be present for Sting’s final match in pro wrestling

String said that his final match will be at AEW’s Revolution, which will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024. This will be the last time fans see The Icon in the ring.

In the build-up to this match, Khan brought Flair into AEW to side with Sting through his final journey in pro wrestling. Fans have loved the idea, and the promos Sting cuts with Flair have been entertaining.
