While WWE has had a fair share of bizarre storylines and incidents, AEW is not far behind. A current funny storyline involving wrestling manager Stokely Hathaway has somehow leaped all the possible boundaries, going a bit meta. The storyline took a bizarrely funny turn when WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle got roped in it.

How Kurt Angle became a part of AEW’s storyline

A clip that featured Kurt Angle was posted by Hathaway on his X (formerly Twitter) account. In the clip, Angle was seen urging Tony Khan and AEW’s Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale to give the 33-year-old manager a chance to prove his worth. Angle started by saying that he did not like how his “boy” was being treated at AEW. He then added that instead of going to Japan with Jon Moxley for a match, Hathaway decided to stay here to watch the tag team perform at the AEW Rampage. Angle, referring to Hathaway, added, “2024 is for the short, bald kings with a so-so credit score.”

These attempts of his had led to some pretty amusing and fun segments at AEW. The latest was at the recent episode of AEW Rampage. As the two were introduced, Hathaway was seen flattering Statlander with compliments. However, he decided not to bombard compliments on her tag team partner Nightingale. Due to this, Hathaway is commonly ignored by the duo. However, Angle‘s statement for Hathaway might change the duo’s perspective. Do you think Angle’s campaign for Hathaway will be enough to convince the duo?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
