A female AEW referee is out for revenge after sustaining a brutal attack a few days ago. The official was hit by one of the new members of Tony Khan‘s company. On the June 2 episode of AEW Rampage, the 36-year-old referee was seen grabbing the throat of her attacker while trying to exact revenge.

Meanwhile, fans booed the segment after the promotion shared the clip on social media.

Who attacked whom on AEW Rampage?

The official in question is Aubrey Edwards. She attacked Karen Jarrett, wife of AEW star Jeff Jarrett. Karen Jarrett made her AEW debut on the May 17 episode of Dynamite, helping her husband and his teammates attack FTR. At AEW Double or Nothing, which took place on May 28, Karen Jarrett used one of her husband’s moves on Edwards.

At the PPV, AEW Tag Team Champions Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (FTR) clashed with Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett for a title match. During the bout, Jarrett smashed his guitar on Mark Briscoe, who was the referee. With no official remaining to count the fall, Edwards rushed to the ring but was stopped by Sonjay Dutt, one of Jarett’s teammates. While she pushed him aside, Karen Jarrett smashed her with a guitar.

During the June 2 episode of AEW Rampage, Briscoe met Jarrett and his team- Karen Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh backstage. There, he brought Edwards with him, and after a brief verbal volley from Karen Jarrett; the official attacked her. They were separated soon though by the others.

Not just the segment, but the two women featured in it were also chastised by the fans. While some couldn’t fathom the storyline involving a referee attacking a talent, others were unhappy to see Karen Jarrett on the screen.
