John Cena is among the handful of WWE superstars who haven’t deserted the Stamford-based promotion even once during his two-decade-long career. This has also made him synonymous with the WWE and Cena is reaping its rewards currently. While he had endured boos from the spectators in the past, each of his recent appearances has been greeted with thunderous applause. This proves how integral he is to the company and how dear he is to the WWE Universe.

On the other hand, his father, John Cena Sr., broke the proverbial forbidden door by promoting the AEW, WWE’s rival promotion. Social media users called him out for his actions.

This is a question that will resonate with many fans after the news broke. Well, the senior Cena is no stranger to either AEW or pro wrestling. He has been a part of the industry before, going by the name of Johnny Fabulous. While he wasn’t as able in the ring as his son, the 79-year-old shared one common trait with his iconic son- mic skills.

Cena Sr. worked as the announcer for Chaotic Wrestling and the commissioner of East Coast Championship Wrestling. Now you know where the 16-time world champion gets his legendary mic skills from! Apart from that, Johnny Fabulous has also managed an AEW star in the past.

The AEW Dynamite show that Cena Sr. promoted, emanated from TD Garden in Boston. As a Boston native with connections to pro wrestling, he often attends wrestling matches, irrespective of the promotions, when they come to his city. His son, on the other hand, helped the WWE rake in record-breaking numbers at their last premium live event (PLE).

According to reports, Money In The Bank, which took place at the O2 Arena in London, emerged as the highest-grossing arena event in the company’s history. Cena, who returned to the WWE after his WrestleMania 39 loss against United States Champion Austin Theory, surprised the crowd with his presence.

With his son actively moving the needle from the promotion, it wasn’t a surprise that many found Cena Sr’s action incomprehensible.

“Why are you promoting AEW ?” Fans lambast Cena Sr after his latest tweet?

When your son is part of pro wrestling folklore, mostly due to his stint in one promotion, it is not unnatural for fans to demand loyalty from the father. Such was the popular sentiment among social media users, who commented on the news of John Cena Sr attending the AEW program.

This user used a one-word reaction to let their feeling known.

While this fan doesn’t mention the WWE, their take on AEW and its roster tilts the scales in favor of the rival promotion.

The tweet from John Cena Sr caught this person off guard. They wondered if this was the result of a father-son fight and the superstar’s old man in need of money. John Cena has witnessed rapid growth in his net worth in recent years, as his stature as an actor has scaled.

One user also asked the reason behind the 79-year-old doing a favor to Tony Khan’s promotion.
