The Shield will always be a WWE faction that is close to fans’ hearts. Not just for fans but also for Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley The Shield holds a special place. The team disbanded a long time ago, and Moxley moving to AEW has made it nearly impossible for a reunion. Recently, the World Heavyweight Champion reminisced his Shield days and in the process acknowledged Moxley’s AEW run.

We will rarely find WWE stars talking about AEW, but two years after The Tribal Chief, Rollins also mentioned his former teammate’s run in Tony Khan’s promotion.

The Shield is arguably one of the best factions WWE ever had. All the there members were seen as potential top guys for the future back in 2012, which indeed happened. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose all went on to become WWE Champions. However, ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ went to AEW in 2019 after creative differences in WWE.

Recently, while appearing on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Seth Rollins acknowledged his former Shield member’s AEW run. This came two years after ‘The Tribal Chief’ talked about it in 2021 appearing for an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Rollins said, “I mean the audience goes up and down with me, you experienced the side they really enjoy. I think being paired with you has kind of help bring that out. So we first started in 2012 with Shield. If anybody knows it’s me, Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley, he’s over in AEW now.”

In 2014, ‘The Visionary’ turned on his Shield members Reigns and Ambrose. There were several reunions later the last being in 2019 before Ambrose left WWE.

Jon Moxley debuted in AEW at Double of Nothing PPV in 2019. Currently, Moxley is a former one-time WWE and former three-time AEW Champion. Clearly, the run in The Shield benefitted all three members.

Meanwhile, Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for 1000+ days, while Rollins is the World Heavyweight Champion. The Architect was the first member of the popular faction to win the WWE Championship.

Rollin’s first major singles run came as a heel. After betraying his faction, the 37-year-old joined The Authority and went on to have a long WWE run as a heel. In the same podcast, he talked about it.

Rollins said, “When I infamously betrayed The Shield in 2014 I think it was, yeah that started the run of hatred. It was pretty strong there for a few years, it was pretty rotten.”

The run with the Shield helped each member to rise in WWE in separate ways. However, for Moxley, it benefitted him outside WWE too and his former teammates are proud of it.
