WWE has had its monopoly in the industry for more than four decades now. During this time, many promotions came and went but none of them could come close to the behemoth. However, in recent times, Tony Khan and his promotion of AEW has established itself as a credible brand and competition. Apart from their storytelling and focus on the free-agent market, another reason it is so prominent is that many former WWE stars have made their way to AEW. However, if the word is to be trusted, an old foe of R-Rated Superstar, Adam Copeland, could have been a part of AEW.

Tony Khan tried to sign Rey Mysterio

If the word is to be trusted, Dave Meltzer stated that Rey Mysterio was all set to be All Elite in the past. The word has it that Khan had made an offer to the multi-time Royal Rumble winner on Chris Jericho’s recommendation. According to the word of Meltzer, the last time when Mysterio’s contract was about to expire, Khan did make an offer. However, the Master of 619 decided to stay with WWE.

Rey Mysterio departed from WWE back in 2015 to try his hand at various indie circuits. It was during this time that Mysterio participated in the first-ever All-In back in 2018 when he was a free agent. Following this, he made his way back to WWE in 2018. The contract that he had signed in 2018 with WWE was two years long. So it is highly possible that Khan tried to secure Mysterio in the year 2020.
