Charlotte Flair’s Husband Andrade Makes WWE Royal Rumble Return a Month After Leaving Tony Khan’s AEW

Royal Rumble 2024 is living up to the hype it created. And as per the Royal Rumble ritual, it has become the home ground for major returns. Earlier in the Rumble, it was Naomi, and this time Andrade El Idolo made his return to the promotion. After almost 3 years away from the company since his departure in 2021, the former AEW star is back in better shape than ever.
There were major rumors surrounding the return, as Andrade ‘El Ídolo’ had quite a past in WWE. He proved his championship prowess as he clinched the NXT Championship and the United States Championship. However, he left the company when he asked for his release of contract to join the ranks of AEW, where he enjoyed a fruitful spell until December 2023. Though the rumors of his return to the WWE had grown. And now reports have suggested that the WWE faithful can thank Charlotte Flair for this hyped-up return.

As per reports from Fightful Select, Andrade’s deal with the WWE was possible because of his wife and current WWE star Charlotte Flair, as she played a major role in her husband’s decision and advocated for his return. El Ídolo’s final few months with AEW seem to have taken him in several directions.

According to the aforementioned report, many in AEW recall Andrade mentioning that he planned to stay at the company but later considered the possibility of a change. These discussions quickly turned into talks about his return to WWE, which we now know has come to fruition.

Andrade returned at the Royal Rumble, entering as the fourth contender. In his first moments in the ring, he faced Grayson Waller and Jimmy and Jey Usos, as well as receiving a standing ovation. He also remained in contention for a considerable time. However, he was eliminated by Bronson Reed. Despite the elimination, Andrade’s return to WWE signals a new chapter in his career and generates expectations about his next steps in the company.
