Brock Lesnar once again entered the main event spot when he destroyed Cody Rhodes just after WrestleMania. It was very reminiscent of John Cena’s beating at the hands of the Beast Incarnate after WrestleMania 28. Not only did Rhodes lose the biggest match of his career, but now Lesnar stands in his way.

While this story about Rhodes’ redemption has got everyone hooked, Lesnar will be a big part of it going forward. Emphasizing Lesnar’s work in recent weeks, a WWE Hall of Famer compared him to legends in the boxing and wrestling industries.

Oleksandr Usyk

While sitting down with Dave LaGreca for the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer, Mark Henry talked about the Rhodes vs Lesnar feud. The first thing he noticed was the similarity between Rhodes’ approach to this match to Mohammad Ali’s approach to fighting George Foreman.

About the way Ali defeated Foreman, Henry said, “All he’s going to think about is killing me. And that was how Ali beat Foreman, he tricked him. And George said years and years later he said I’d never my whole box in life been that angry at a man. I wanted to hurt him. And that was his that was the trick he made me blow myself up.

Henry also mentioned that Lesnar has transformed into Big Show’s character in WWE. He mentions that just like the former WWE Champion, Lesnar is like a chameleon. He can turn his character into the good guy for one week and the bad one for another.

It is always great for the company to have such a big name like Lesnar play both sides of the coin easily. In the past, he solidified his position as the most hated character on the screen. But coming back as Cowboy Lesnar flipped everyone’s perception of him despite his physique and actions.

What might this mean for the upcoming Backlash main event?

It is evident from the first attack that fans are hooked on this storyline. This past week’s Raw also saw Rhodes clearing any doubt about his intention of fighting Lesnar. While not identical to Ali vs Foreman, the main event will be fairly like it in terms of stakes for Rhodes. We’ll see Rhodes trying his best to beat Lesnar.

One method that stars like Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns have used is to hit Lesnar with their biggest moves. But Rhodes isn’t that muscular or a heavyweight like them. So, we might get an interesting bout with Rhodes using everything in his repertoire to tire out Lesnar. This clash of styles will make the match a must watch and it will remains to be seen what will be the outcome and how will affect the future of both stars.
