When it comes to the WWE, there is no shortage of athletes from other sports praising our stars. This always happens to be the case with stars like John Cena or Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Their larger-than-life personalities have garnered global attention. However, knowing someone doesn’t always mean you like them. This is what happened when basketball legend Charles Barkley was asked about The Rock.

The 61-year-old former NBA star has had run-ins with The Rock before. The most notable is when he dwarfed the WWE star. And he only has fond memories to take away from those experiences.

Charles Barkley was a guest on the recent episode of the Pat McAfee show. Being associated with the WWE, McAfee asked Barkley whether he knew what The Rock was doing in the company. Barkley acknowledged and said, “I was impressed. I’ve known him we’re not great friends but I’ve known him for a long time.” Despite there being no public beef between the NBA legend and The Great One, it seems they’re not that close in real life. However, Barkley did go on to praise Johnson for his recent run in the company.

The 11-time NBA All-Star said, “When I saw I was like yo man he’s got that thing and when he’s working I want to watch.” There is no denying the drawing power of Johnson, even on non-wrestling fans. Being a Hollywood megastar, the Brahma Bull’s reach goes beyond the WWE compared to other superstars. Barkley had familiarized himself with The Rock’s drastic heel turn in the WWE and commented on the topic. He said, “He played the heel perfectly, but his charisma, man. It’s an honor.” Those are some high praises for The Great One.

It is clear that the 61-year-old respects the fact that Johnson returned to the WWE after almost a decade of no in-ring work. The 51-year-old icon of the Attitude Era went under endurance training for weeks leading up to WrestleMania XL. He delivered in a match with Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. All three men have cemented their status as the best the company has to offer. This showed that he still had it within him to perform even on the Grandest Stage of them all. Not only that, but Johnson also joined The Undertaker as the only WWE star to have main-event WrestleMania in over four decades. This is a massive accomplishment for Johnson. What did you think of Barkley’s words? Tell us in the comments.
