Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the popular WWE stars during his run in the Attitude Era. There may not have been a single Steve Austin fan that didn’t try out his beer drinking style at least once in their life. Only a few stars of his era matched the influence and appeal of the Texas Rattlesnake.

From children to adults, everyone was a fan of Stone Cold was the man to follow in pro wresting. Although he influenced many people during his career, it is interesting to see the effect of NBA legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant on his day-to-day life.

Austin’s personality in WWE was that of a rugged redneck as he marched to the ring wearing his leather vest and black boots stomping a mudhole in his opponents. It is hard for fans to imagine Steve Austin as anything else. Yet, the former WWE Champion surprised his fans when he went sneaker shopping recently.

Steve Austin appeared in the latest episode of ‘Complex’s Sneaker Shopping’ and made some high-profile purchases which included three pairs of Air Jordans and a Kobe 5 Protro sneakers.

Stone Cold Steve Austin reveals his Jordan and Kobe influence

If you watched Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestle during the 90s, you would hardly put him down for someone who would wear sneakers or spent a good amount of money on them. The Texas Rattlesnake become one of WWE’s biggest stars while drinking beer, talking trash and taking down anyone that stood in his path.

However, the WWE Hall of Famer dropped by a sneaker store in Reno, Nevada, in a Sneaker Shopping episode on Complex with Joe La Puma. Austin ended up purchasing three pairs of Air Jordans, a Michael Jordan sneaker brand. His purchase included ‘Fire Red’ 3s, ‘Racer Blue’ 5s and ‘Del Sol’ 13s.

Moreover, the six-time WWE Champion also noted that Kobe Bryant is his all-time favorite. He said, “Kobe is one of my all-time favorites, do you have anything from Kobe?” Austin then bought the Undefeated Hall of Fame x Zoom Kobe 5 Protro sneaker, brand belonging to the late great NBA star Kobe Bryant.

He spent a whopping $1883 on these four pairs of sneakers. Not many people would’ve put down the WWE legend for a sneaker person, let alone buying expensive Jordans and Protro sneakers to boot.

Fans cannot believe Austin is a sneaker head

As the photo of Steve Austin at the sneaker store and his purchase details went online, fans couldn’t believe it. The fans were having a hard time digesting, seeing the wrestling icon at a sneaker store.

After the photo Austin’s shopping spree went online, fans couldn’t believe that the Texan was into sneakers. But it also left them aghast to see the amount the WWE legend paid for sneakers and believed the shop overcharged him.

Some fans though that Austin over paid for these shoes.

A few fans though Steve Austin only wore his black boots.

Whether the shoes cost Austin more than they should’ve is another question, but it is nice to see the influence of NBA icons in his everyday life.
