Not everything in WWE is scripted. Sometimes, things take shape just out of the blue, or maybe through a dare. This is exactly what happened when The Rock was dared to do a move, and it ended up becoming his iconic finisher move!

During a Supercut megadose about The Rock’s episodes on AdFreeShows, Bruce Prichard revealed that Rock’s iconic People’s Elbow was created via a dare. Now, the finisher wouldn’t have stuck through had the fans not popped, but they did. As a result, the finisher stuck!

“The People’s Elbow was something that was done and it was created on the road at some point. It was a joke. And, I believe it was in a match with Triple H or The Undertaker, one of the two. They dared Rock to do it. And, he did it. It got a pop. He just continued to do it. It was so damn ridiculous and so over the top.” H/t AdFreeShows

The Rock becoming The People’s Champion was bizarre as well

When ‘The Great One’ first made his WWE debut, the WWE Universe didn’t actually like him. In fact, his first character, Rocky Maivia, wasn’t met by extreme hate from the fans.

However, he took a break from WWE because of a knee injury and when he returned, he started referring to himself as The Rock. Soon enough, the audience loved the new character.
