After almost a decade of anticipation, the much-awaited clash between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Roman Reigns appears closer than ever. The Rock made a sudden return to 1st January’s Monday Night RAW, initially giving the impression of a typical comeback where he takes on a mid-card heel. 

However, he surprised everyone by grabbing the mic and challenging Roman Reigns, asking the fans if they wanted him to “sit at the Head of the Table.” Despite this, an ex-WWE General Manager has opted against Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, drawing inspiration from the NFL Playbook.

Dwayne Johnson vs Roman Reigns in Australia?

The highly anticipated dream match between Roman Reigns and The Rock has been a long-time aspiration for WWE, considering Reigns’ remarkable rise in recent years. Despite the criticism the company has faced for prioritizing part-timers in the past, this potential clash stands out as one of the biggest dream matches WWE could present today. 

On a recent episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff shared his perspective on Cody Rhodes potentially defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. He said, “ It seems to me that the best use of that asset, being Rock because he’s a massive asset, would be better for us to continue to expand, or leverage him to expand in the future the international business model, do it in Perth.” Notably, Reigns is not scheduled for the Elimination Chamber in Perth.

He also stated, “But have Roman face Rock in Perth, have him beat him there and then go to WrestleMania. Or he beat him the night before like you said; yes that will be great.” He emphasizes the strategic use of assets like The Rock for international expansion, suggesting a match in Perth before heading to WrestleMania.

While acknowledging he is not closely following the current creative direction, Bischoff believes using The Rock in Perth aligns with potential international business growth. It also maintains the integrity of the storyline. In the same interview, he went on to discuss the possibility of a CM Punk vs Seth Rollins match.

CM Punk winning the Royal Rumble to challenge Seth Rollins?

Wrestling expert Eric Bischoff recently discussed in the same interview the prospect of CM Punk winning the Royal Rumble and challenging Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. He said, “I’m going with you [Punk vs. Rollins prediction]. You’ve thought through this way more than I have, you know. And first, let me say that all of — you know, whatever the scenarios are.” Bischoff emphasized the excitement generated by various scenarios and the importance of anticipation in wrestling storytelling. 

He acknowledged the abundance of quality options available to the creative team, expressing confidence in WWE’s potential directions. It’s particularly true with figures like Cody, Roman, and Rock. 

Bischoff is more focused on the business direction than in-ring performances. He ended up saying, “I honestly know that there are so many great ways to go and options that I truly am in — I’m just gonna sit back and enjoy it.” Bischoff looks forward to enjoying the unfolding developments.
