CM Punk made his groundbreaking return at the inaugural edition of AEW’s third show, Collision. The Straight Edge star’s return was met with deafening cheers from his fans. However, that wasn’t the case at AEW and NJPW’s Forbidden Door PPV.

It’s no secret that CM Punk is one of the most controversial superstars in the wrestling industry. Somehow, someway, Punk ends up at the epicenter of controversies. Much of his popularity in wrestling came from his pipe bomb promos. And the fact that he wears his heart on his sleeve doesn’t make him everybody’s favorite wrestler.

Make no mistake, even though Punk has his detractors, there are fans who love him. After all, he is the Voice of the Voiceless. But, the boos that Punk soaked in at Forbidden Door easily overshadowed his admirers’ cheers. The PPV emanated from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Cm Punk collided with Satoshi Kojima in the opening round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. While the fans were hyped and ready to see the match take place, Punk’s entrance was not well-received. In a video that’s circulating on social media, CM Punk is seen making his entrance while being engulfed with the noise of disapproval from the crowd in attendance.

Despite the hate, after a hard-fought battle, CM Punk defeated Satoshi Kojima and advanced in the Owen Hart tournament. By the looks of things, it may take more time for the fans to accept CM Punk. Let’s call a spade a spade and admit that his reputation was marred after the All Out Brawl Out incident.

We will have to wait and see if the AEW star gets the same treatment from the fan in another arena. Nevertheless, this was also the first time that Punk and the Elite performed at the same show.

Punk and The Elite were on the same show for the first time since AEW All Out

Fans aren’t the only ones who are not very thrilled to have CM Punk back in AEW. Although almost a year has passed since All Out, the wounds haven’t healed. Despite being on the same show as the Elite, CM Punk and the Elite did not interact.

According to Fightful Select, Punk and The Elite were put far apart from each other in the building. AEW management seemingly “put them on different sides of the building” to avert any kind of potential confrontation. After all, the last time they were in the same room, an ugly scuffle broke out.

At this point, it is conspicuous that CM Punk and the Elite are far from seeing mending the fences. But the question is, how long will this continue? A day will come when they will cross paths and will have to iron out their differences.
