There are only a few wrestlers who fail in WWE, work hard in the indies, and then come back to dominate WWE again. One of them is former WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Psychopath has been one of the biggest attractions for WWE in the past few years. His streak of wins during the Pandemic is remembered fondly by fans.

But lately, after his defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle UK PLE, WWE relegated McIntyre to the mid-card. Even this year’s WrestleMania saw McIntyre on the losing end of a title match. While the triple threat match was a sight to behold, fans didn’t think that McIntyre would be the one who was pinned. This got some of them thinking that he might be leaving WWE, and they might be on the right track.

Then he went on to talk about McIntyre’s situation in WWE. He said that the former WWE champion is unhappy with the creativity as well as the money on offer. His contract is up in two months, and that’s the reason people are thinking he might leave WWE after all. Keller also mentioned that WWE is not ready to match McIntyre’s price and settle on another contract.

This is most surprising for the fans after they saw the rising status that WWE has granted McIntyre since his return to the company. But what was special about the second run?

Drew McIntyre’s second run in WWE

In his first run with the company, McIntyre was Vince McMahon’s chosen superstar to be a main eventer, but it fell through pretty quickly. Then, after a few years, the Scottish Psychopath left WWE and went back to his country. There, he built himself up on indies and came back to the US to succeed all over again. After years, McIntyre came back and started aligning himself with Dolph Ziggler.

But that wasn’t the jumping point he was looking for. It wasn’t until 2020 that McIntyre got his big break when he eliminated Brock Lesnar from the Royal Rumble and won it as well.

Then, at WrestleMania 36, McIntyre finally won the big one. From there, WWE relied on him throughout the pandemic era. Seeing him leave the company might be a huge loss, but he would be a great addition to Tony Khan’s AEW. Also, Khan announced that there is going to be a UK event titled All In in August, which could be a great debut for McIntyre if he chooses not to re-sign with WWE.
