One of the biggest deals in the sports entertainment industry was closed in September 2023. One of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world, WWE merged with UFC’s parent company, Endeavor to form a new conglomerate called TKO Group Holdings. While the group overlooks both WWE and UFC, it is governed by Endeavor.

This seems to have paved the way for new deal forgings in the pro wrestling industry as Endeavor signed a new deal with another promotion, TNA. Even though WWE is not directly involved with the deal, it might open new avenues for the Stamford-based promotion.

TNA Wrestling, formerly known as Impact, announced on their website their new deal with Endeavor. According to the report, the Anthem sports and entertainment subsidiary has partnered with Endeavor Streaming. The streaming service called TNA+ will be available from Friday, January 5, 2024. It would be available for all users across various platforms, for both mobile and various connected devices. What’s interesting to note is that TNA+ will have a different membership model compared to the conventional one.

The streaming service will have two subscription models, one will be called Special Attraction membership, and the other World Championship membership. The only difference between the two would be the latter will also include access to the 4-tent Pole annual events.

This news came in amidst the apparent rumors of AEW partnering up with Warner Brothers Discovery over streaming rights. With Endeavor taking up this new project, what could it mean for WWE?

What WWE can learn from TNA+

The subscription model incorporated by TNA will be something that they claim will give ‘power back in fans’ hands.’ Apart from various events and weekly shows, the streaming platform will be exclusive to TNA only. This means that the other content available on it will be archives of various events, original content by promotion, and wrestler-created series. Apart from that, fans who have subscribed to their streaming services will also get a chance to interact with the stars of the promotion. However, the promotion has not shed any light on it yet. While WWE does have a streaming service of its own, it is somewhat spread out considering the many streaming services it has partnered with.

Along with the WWE Network, the promotion’s work is also streamed on Peacock in the USA,  Disney+Hotstar in Indonesia, Binge in Australia, and many other streaming services for various regions. While some of the WWE content such as The Bump and Raw Talk is free to watch on Peacock, fans have to take Peacock Premium Tier subscription to have access to all of the content. Even though this is justifiable, fans don’t have much choice but to opt for the complete streaming service just to watch their favorite pro wrestling show.  While TNA’s subscription model is something they could incorporate for WWE Network, what other features do you think they can add to their streaming services?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
